2. The Groom

I wonder
If words can express what we have between us
Words are invented to be expressed
But how could any words do us justice
Without cheapening its value?

I write
Words to get you to feel
How I really feel
Perhaps what I really want to feel
Is what you would feel.

I ask
Would I really want to feel the world together with you?
Why not simply feel the way I want?
Cause it is simply just not the same without you
If I would have to feel in the dark alone.

I wait
Patiently as I always do for your reply
I want you to spend time with me
Yet I do not covet all your time
Cause it will not be real, if without freedom you feel.

I listen
What you did today and what you will do tomorrow
You asked me the same questions I asked you
What joy I would feel!
If what I do intrigues you the way you intrigue me.

I hurt
When you confide in me
The tribulations in your life
I hurt not only because you hurt
But because sometimes all I can offer is my listening ear and understanding heart.

I rejoice
When you say I’m sweet
And show that you truly care about what I do
Yet I rejoice too
When I hurt and you’re there for me.

I sleep
Knowing that you are safe and sound
That we will love each other again the next day
Perhaps we can’t wait in our beds
And meet in Paris again.

I love
Or so I thought I knew love
The kind on TV, fast and fictitious
But there’s a love I’ve learned
One borne from the best of intentions.

I live
An ordinary life filled with desires
Never went through a bungee jump yet
But you have made it extraordinary
Just by living in it.

I wonder, I write
I ask, I wait
I listen, I hurt, I rejoice
I sleep, I dream
I love, I live
Matthias I believe
In you.
